As a child, I remember going to a bridal shower. I was young, nervous, and felt like I was a dwarf in the midst of many beautiful women twice my age. My mother dragged me along to a family friend’s bridal celebration. Wide eyed, I remember watching her open gift after gift, dreaming of the day I would get to be the lady in white.
Finally, my own special day arrived and today I got to celebrate my very own bridal shower! It really was so surreal and a beautiful gift. As many girls do, I found myself wondering,”What do I wear?!” Now, you might be thinking well duh… I think that everyday of my life. Well, yes, I did have a little bit of a struggle deciding what outfit I wanted to wear, but I am talking about my shade of LIPSTICK!
I knew I would be wearing some kind of white dress, and with that I wanted a pop of color with my makeup. However, I also knew I would be around family and family friends. I couldn’t just walk down the stairs wearing purple lipstick…ya know?! I decided on a MAC cosmetics lipstick in the shade sunny seoul. The shade was divine for this occasion. It was the perfect combination of pink and peach. Not too orange but it had a beautiful peach undertone. It was just the amount of attention I wanted in a lipstick!
It was a great party thanks to my best friend and maid of honor!
Pictures thanks to my beautiful sister!
I just have two things to say about the wedding… So fun!! Okay maybe more than two words. There really is no event quite like a wedding. There is always so much emotion built up and you can’t help but let the joy radiate from your own heart. When two people commit in such a way that it brings a group of people together, it really is like magic.
I’m sorry I haven’t posted for a while but I have been on vacation spending time with my fiancé and his family in NY.
Today is another smokey look using some browns and reds. Sarah is actually wearing all matte eye shadows by MAC. Soft brown is all over her lid, texture is in her crease. And follie is on her outer corner. I drew out a cat eye with gel liner but then softened the look by going over it with the folie eye shadow with a pencil brush. I dragged that same color on her lower lash.
Her lips have urban decay naked lipstick and buxom lipstick in dolly.
Challenge of the day- do something out of your comfort zone
So I am currently on my way to a wedding…. You have no idea how excited I am! Not only to wear a hot dress, but also because well… Free drinks!
Today for the wedding I am actually wearing a look very similar to this just a little more formal. For eyes, both Maddie (the model) and I have on MAC eye shadow all that glitters all over the lid, MAC sable in the crease, and follie in the outer corner. I lined both my top and bottom lash line with mac gel liner and threw up some urban decay big fatty mascara. Maddie has a softer under eye look- very little shadow on the lower lash line. For the wedding, I added more definition to the eye by smudging that brown red eye shadow under my eye.
For lips- Mac please me lipstick and buxom lipgloss in dolly. To make the lips pop more i used a mac lip liner for the wedding look.
Challenge- add some shimmer to you look. Add either a glittery gloss or shadow!
Time to Party! As New Years is approaching, it is time to practice your makeup look. This is a great excuse to try that intense eye you have been wanting to experiment with. It’s New Years… JUST DO IT! This is not a time to downgrade your normal look. Bring on the heavy mascara! Now, something that would really intensify this look would be fake lashes. I am actually not a fake lash wearer. This is basically because I think it is a little much to wear them on a daily basis; however, for special occasions they can be very flattering. I am actually looking to try house of lashes fake lashes in the near future. Once a place those suckers on I will let you know what I think. Anyway, my point is go big or go home.
Random Fact: Makeup actually photographs two shades lighter than it is in reality. So this look is actually a little more dramatic than it appears. When taking pictures for a special event, keep in mind you may want to pump up your usual routine so that is appears how you want it to on camera.
Eyes: Nude’ tude palette by the balm.
Lid- sexy- a matte dark red brown Crease- Sultry- a matte brown Inner Corner- standoffish- shimmery nude
Outer corner- Silly- a glittered brown purple
Lips- Bite Beauty lipstick Retsina and benefit lipgloss in sugarbomb
Challenge- Start practicing your New Years Look
Now that the dust is beginning to settle and all the Christmas Chaos is over (or at least should be soon), it is time to begin a new routine. With the new year, people make resolutions (or in my words-promises you don’t keep). Making these “resolutions” are ways for people to feel better about themselves or ways to motivate change. Most of the time we promise to do new things or swear to stop old habits because we are tired of the way we are living our life. Something that my family does that I have really grown to love is make a new year bucket list. Instead of vowing not to do certain things, we make a list of goals or things we want to accomplish this year. Last year, one of my bucket list items was to run 300 miles. And as of today, a few days before 2o14, I succeeded in finishing that goal. So I guess my encouragement to you is to make a bucket list! It is a concrete way to record trying new things. And trust me, when you finally get to cross that item off, it is such a glorious feeling!
Okay, now on to the makeup… what you are REALLY here for. Today, I went for a cozy winter look. Its time to cuddle up in that new Christmas gear. Whether that be your new fuzzy blanket or wool sweater, it is time to embrace the cold weather. For this makeup look, I used all warm toned colors. For her eyes, I used a MAC eye shadow called Texture. This is a orange brown color that looks gorgeous on blue eyed girls. In her crease, I used a little of soft brown, which is also an eye shadow by MAC cosmetics. In the outer v, I used Garnet from the Lorac Pro Palette. And in the inner corner and brown bone I used champagne.
That face has a Laura Primer in Radiance, makeup forever HD foundation, Laura Mericer Setting powder, Milani blush in rose d’oro, and tart park ave princess bronzer.
That pout has the lip liner perfect spice by Too Faced, Urban Decay Lipstick in Naked, and Victoria Secret lipstick (can’t remember the color?!)
Challenge of the Day- Make a bucket list!!
Okay, so out of guilt for not posting again for three days, I decided to give you two looks in one day! I mean it is Christmas after all…. two looks for the price of one! But for real give me a little slack… I GOT ENGAGED! That totally gives me room to be a little in the clouds. And hey you all will benefit for this.. BRIDAL LOOKS! WHOO! Okay Okay I know I am still a little excited. Anyway (takes a deep breath) I am using my sister Sarah as my model again. We did a pretty Holiday dinner look. The Lorac Pro Palette is the star of the show once again.
All over Sarah’s lid we went for a gorgeous gold glitter color for the season (gold in the Lorac Pro Palette). In the inner corner and brow bone we used Champagne a nude shimmery color. And in the outer corner we used both pewter and sable. Both are brown colors. Sable is a little darker and warmer in tone. Pewter is more of a frosty brown. I also used the gold and pewter color on her lower lash line as eyeliner. Now her eyes would not be complete without her favorite mascara (Urban Decay Big Fatty).
Those cheery lips are glossed with MAC’s sugarimmed lipgloss and clinique all heart lipstick.
Hope you’re all on the nice list!
Merry Christmas Eve! I cannot believe it is already here. I feel like every year I get to this point and I say to myself, “Crap, I forgot to watch this movie or that movie… I wish I would have spent more time with the family… I wish I would have listened to more Christmas music…” The list could go on and on. But this year, I want to look back. Review all that I did do this season to celebrate and prepare for CHRISTmas. For starters… I got engaged! That is something that is joyous!
I also have been posting for you all and spending time with all my siblings (all eight of them)!
Now today I wanted to share for you the look I wore for the Christmas service. I went for a very simple eye and bright red lip. On My eyes I used the Lorac Pro Palette. All over the lid I used Cream. Into my crease I blended mauve. And in my outer corner and into my crease I used Sable.
I used MAC gel liner and YSL Shocking Mascara and called it a day for the eye portion.
For the lips I first applied a Bite Beauty red lipstick and then smoothed it out with a lip brush. Once it was applied I blotted it with a napkin. Then I applied the lipstick again smoothing out the edges and then using a concealer brush to perfect the line.
And for the face I used my holy grail face products (see look 10) and NYX blush in dusty rose. Merry Christmas!
Challenge: Sport a red lip! If you won’t during Christmas when will you?!
Some days we just want to feel pretty. That’s it. Now fuss, no intense or dramatic look, just pretty. Whether you are out and about running errands, going to a football game, or meeting a friend for coffee, this look is simple yet beautiful. My model and sister Sarah is a very low maintence girl who has a natural beauty to her. Whenever I do her makeup she always asks me to be low key, “Nothing crazy Hannah!” Sarah is strong. She has this fire in her that ignites everything she does. And what I admire most about her is her courage. Her courage to do what is right. So, if you are looking for a simple but pretty look… HERE YOU GO!
Face- Makeup Forever HD Foundation, smashbox photo finish primer, Mac concealer, Laura mercer setting powder, tarte park ave princess bronzer, Mac Fleur power blush (I think).
Eyes: MAC texture all over the lid, Bootycall (from Urban Decay Naked 2 palate) in the inner corner and brow bone, MAC sable in crease, and a little bit of MAC Follie in the outer corner. Also- MAC blacktrack fluid line gel liner, Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara/
Lips: MAC creme cup lipstick and Buxom Lipgloss in Dolly.
This blog is about being authentic. Real. I could show you super edited pictures. No flaws. Perfection. But guess what… That isn’t life. As much as we all strive to be those girls on the magazines, we will never be. All we have to work with is that we have been given. So play up what you got! Maybe you hate your nose… then distract attention away from it by playing up your eyes. Maybe your eyes are small… then bring on the bold lips! Accentuate the beauty you have. I know that sounds kinda cheesy and your probably like oh gosh… here she goes… the “your beautiful speach”…. But no no relax. I am done. All I wanted to say is work with what you have been given.
For this look I decided to go for a bold lip. My eyes are a little smaller side, so it fun to be able to experiment with different shades of lipsticks and glosses. This lipstick is actually the only one I owe from the brand lipstick queen. I have to say that the color is super pigmented and long wearing. It is a little on the drying side so I tend to either wear chapestick over or under the lipstick. Also, when wearing a bold lip make sure your lips are exfoliated. We don’t want flakey lips! This red is a little darker than the “holiday red” but I like it because it is different. If several girls are going for the classic red, why not go a little more daring?
The lipstick is called wine sinner and the trick I use to make the line a little more straight is using a lip brush and concealer. After you apply the color, smooth out the edges with a lip brush and then dab some concealer on a brush and go around your lips. This will eliminate that left over color or smudge marks.
Since the lips are oh so strong… I went for a very soft eye using the nude’tude palate by the balm. All over the lid I used Stubborn. In the crease and outer corner, I used sultry. In the inner corner I mixed stand-offish and sassy.
I also smudge sultry on the lower lash line and finished the eyes with big fatty mascara by Urban Decay.
Challenge of the day- Flirt what you got!
Look at this blue eyed beauty! My sister Maddie makes makeup artistry easy. Today’s look is about being a little edgy but still wearable. This look says “I’m mysterious, but I’ll tell you a few secrets.” Right now you are probably like, “Really Hannah. Is that what this look says?” Oh come on, just go with it!
When you have such gorgeous eyes like this you must play them up! I used the Balm Nude’tude palate.
All over her lid I used a brown color with a little shimmer called seductive. Appropriate right? Then in her crease I used a matte brown color called sultry. In her outer corner I used sexy which is a brownish red matte color. In her inner corner I used Stand-offish (a shimmery nude). And finally I used silly (a red brown with shimmer) in her outer corner as well. I did not drag this as far as i did sexy. Both sexy and silly were used to connected the eye shadow to the lower lash line. I then added a wing and Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara.
This cute little face had Laura Mercier radiance primer, Makeup Forever HD foundation (surprised?),MAC concealer NW 25, tarte park ave princess bronzer, Milani blush in Rose D’Oro. Now for that pout… We went simple with a nude lipstick by MAC called Pure Zen and a gloss by Benefit called Sugarbomb.
Challenge- Do a brown smokey eye! Just do it!
